Paul Startz
Paul Startz has provided independent legal and business development consulting services to technology, media and communications companies since 2001.
Prior to establishing his own practice, Paul was vice president of business and legal affairs at Quokka Sports Inc., a provider of internet-based sports entertainment programming. He was also general counsel and secretary at NBC Quokka Ventures LLC, a producer of Olympics-related web content.
Before joining Quokka, Paul was a partner in the law firm of Cooley Godward LLP, where he established and managed the information technology group in its San Francisco office.

Robert Pierce
Robert Pierce provides legal services to privately held and publicly traded companies in the United States, Europe, Asia and Latin America. Most of his clients rely on him for transactional and operational support. For example, licensing and distribution matters, strategic alliances and commercial disputes. He works closely with both entrepreneurs and in-house legal teams who rely on his expertise.
For 10 years Robert worked at Adobe Systems Inc. in San Jose, California. While there he managed a team of seven lawyers and two intellectual property specialists who helped launch some of the industry’s most innovative products and services.
Prior to Adobe, Robert was division counsel at The Learning Company, an educational and productivity software publisher. Before working in the software industry, he was an associate at Nagashima & Hashimoto, a commercial and trade law firm located in Tokyo, and at Stein, Kahan & Rosenberg, a commercial litigation firm in Santa Monica, California.
Robert has successfully litigated trade secret and commercial disputes on behalf of technology companies and executives in both California and federal courts.
Robert has taught 10-week courses in intellectual property management at the Santa Clara University Leavey School of Business and has lectured on similar topics at the University of California, Haas School of Business and the Universidad Católica de Córdoba in Argentina.
